What's About

Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme under Key Action 1 – Learning Mobility of Individuals, this project focuses on empowering youth workers to integrate environmental sustainability into their daily practice using the European GreenComp Framework.

Climate change and environmental challenges increasingly affect young people’s lives, yet many youth workers lack structured methods and practical tools to address sustainability effectively. Through international cooperation and non-formal education, the project will strengthen youth workers’ capacities to foster sustainability competences among young people and encourage active participation in the green transition.

The project combines an international training course with local follow-up workshops, creating long-lasting impact through practical learning, peer exchange, and community engagement. It will also develop a GreenComp Youth Work Toolkit containing tested activities, practical guidelines, and recommendations that can be used by youth organisations across Europe.

The Objectives

  • Strengthen youth workers’ competences in applying the GreenComp Framework in youth work.
  • Provide innovative non-formal education methods that promote sustainability, critical thinking, and responsible environmental action.
  • Build an international community of practice for sharing experiences and good practices.
  • Raise awareness of the important role of youth work in supporting Europe’s green transition.
  • Develop a GreenComp Youth Work Toolkit and practical guidelines for wider use across the youth sector.

Activities

  • International Training Course (10 days): Bringing together 30 youth workers from Austria, Germany, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro to explore GreenComp through experiential and non-formal learning.
  • GreenComp Learning Sessions: Practical workshops on sustainability values, climate change, environmental justice, and designing engaging educational activities.
  • Creative & Outdoor Learning: Participants experience participatory methods, group work, outdoor education, and reflective learning approaches.
  • Local Follow-up Workshops: Each participant delivers at least three workshops within their local community, transferring GreenComp methods to young people and fellow youth workers.
  • Development of the GreenComp Youth Work Toolkit: Compilation of tested activities, practical tools, and guidelines for wider dissemination.
