What's About

The extremely rapid adoption of the digital environment in all aspects of life, taking in leisure, education and work, means that we have learned how to use it very quickly. As a result, there is a need to ascertain the skills of society and levels of media and digital literacy, especially among groups in education such as young people.

Digital skills are crucial for young people in today’s technology-driven world, shaping their ability to engage, learn, and succeed in multiple aspects of life. First and foremost, digital literacy empowers young people to participate actively in society, giving them the tools to express their voices, advocate for causes, and influence change through social media and online platforms. It also enhances their educational opportunities, as many modern learning resources are digital, providing access to a wealth of information and virtual learning environments.

Furthermore, in an economy increasingly reliant on technology, digital skills are a key component of career readiness. Many professions require proficiency in digital tools, from basic word processing to more advanced tasks like coding or data analysis. Young people with these skills are better equipped to navigate the job market and adapt to evolving career demands. In addition, digital skills foster critical thinking and media literacy, allowing young people to evaluate online information and combat misinformation.

Understanding how to engage responsibly and safely online, including protecting privacy and avoiding cyberbullying, is equally important.

Finally, digital skills spark creativity and innovation, enabling young people to use technology to solve problems and create their own content, and mastering these skills helps bridge social inequalities and prepares young people to thrive in a digital future.
